Art Contest

The Brevard Renaissance Fair is presenting the First Annual Student Visual & Literary Art Contest.

The fair will entertain the community of Brevard for two weekends at the Wickham Park Amphitheater.

January 30-31 and February 5-7.

The theme for the 2016 Brevard Renaissance Fair is “The Canterbury Tales.” 1066 through 1603.

All students from 3rd through 12th grade are invited to participate in the Annual Student Visual & Literary Art Contest. Entries will be on display at the Fair and a special recognition awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 30, at the Royal Court inside the Fair to honor the students who entered.

Visual and Literary Art Contest Information

There is a limit of ten entries per school; 5 Visual Art and 5 Literary Art entries. Please select the best representations of students work to submit. Students may present both a Visual & Literary Art entry, one student entry of each type please.

Entry Form:

Each entry must include a completed contest entry form attached to the back side of their submission

Visual Art:

Submitted artwork should be in one of the two categories and have a medieval theme:

  1. A. Two-dimensional artwork includes graphic arts, painting, drawing, ink, and multi-media.
  2. Three-dimensional artwork includes sculptures such as swords, shields, models of castles, etc. Literary Art: The maximum length should be 1-2 pages typed in a legible font with proper spacing.

Literary Art:

The maximum length should be 1-2 pages typed in a legible font with proper spacing.

Writings should follow a medieval theme; examples include: The Canterbury Tales, Knighthood, Disease and Medicine, Pilgrimages, Medieval Arts (music, skills, clothing, or armor), The Crusades, or The Magna Carta.

Note:  All visual and literary art should be matted/mounted and ready for display, please tag the front with student’s name, grade, teacher’s name and contact info, school name, and title of work

Age Groups:

Entries will be judged in the following age groups:

Group I

 3rd and 4th Grade

Group II

5th and 6th Grade

Group III

7th and 8th Grade

Group IV

 9th – 12th Grade

Prizes:

First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in each group. Winners will receive a certificate, a Festival T-shirt, and two complimentary passes to the Fair. Four grand prize winners will receive a $25 gift card. All students and teachers will receive a certificate recognizing their participation.

Deadline:

The contest registration deadline is December 4th, 2015.

Submission:

Please drop your students’ entries off at the Wickham Park Amphitheater inside Wickham Park on January 29th between 8:00 am and 6:00 p.m. or contact Kim Novak for assistance; 2500 Parkway Dr., Melbourne, FL 32935.

Entry Pickup:

Due to the limited storage space, entries any unclaimed prizes must be picked up from the Wickham Park Amphitheater on Monday, February 8th, 2016. If this is not possible, contact Kim Novak prior to the event.
